Capital One UK lists 0800 952 5267 for a problem with a transaction: a payment you do not recognise or cannot find on your account, a scam, or a retailer you cannot reach. Its phone team keeps set hours, not a round-the-clock service.

  • A foreign charge on your Capital One card you do not recognise
  • Paid a seller abroad who turned out to be a scam
  • A merchant overseas who will not answer
  • Card gone and you want it locked first

0800 952 5267 in 10 seconds

When to call
0800 952 5267, under "Having a problem with a transaction?": the transaction is not on your account, you do not recognise it or the amount, you have been the victim of a scam, or you cannot reach the retailer.
Phone hours
Weekdays 7am to 9pm, weekends 8am to 5pm, Capital One says. No time zone is given.
Out of hours
Capital One says "you can still use the automated options to do things like make a payment".
Check first
Did an extra cardholder make the payment? Does the company trade under another name? Has a free trial become a paid subscription? Capital One asks you to rule these out before calling.
From abroad
Capital One says calls to 0800 are free "from a UK landline or personal mobile", and lists a separate "Call from abroad" number. It does not say whether 0800 952 5267 connects from a foreign network: there it may not connect. Goes through with Losali, from your browser.
Lost card
Report it in the app under 'My card', where you can also lock the card for a while. Capital One advises against secure messages here, since its team can take two working days to answer one.

How it works

Call the UK in three steps

A Losali call starts in under a minute, from any country, with no installation and no UK SIM card.

  1. Create your Losali account

Sign up in a few seconds, without an app or a UK SIM card. Your account opens access to UK special numbers: freephone, geographic, 03 and service lines.

  2. Add credit when you need it

Pay only for the calls you make, at €0.99/min, with no subscription and no commitment. The price is shown before the call starts, and a call that does not connect is never charged.

  3. Call the number as written

Allow the microphone and you are connected. You dial the number exactly as it is written on this page, without +44.

About

Everything about calling Capital One UK from abroad

What Capital One wants you to call this number for

On its Contact us page, Capital One UK lists four reasons to ring 0800 952 5267: the transaction is not on your account, you do not recognise the transaction or the amount, you have been the victim of a scam, or you cannot reach the retailer or merchant. Capital One's page data also labels this number as its lost or stolen card line. Its ‘Need to report fraud?’ tab lists a separate 0800 number for account fraud, with similar triggers (an unrecognised transaction, a stolen card, a scam), and payment difficulties have a third. General account questions go to an 03 number.

Opening hours, and what works out of hours

This is not a round-the-clock line. Capital One gives set hours for its phone team: Monday to Friday 7am to 9pm, and Saturday and Sunday 8am to 5pm. Outside those hours, it says, the automated options still let you do things such as make a payment. In the app, under My card, then Report lost or stolen, you can lock the card temporarily so no one can use it.

Capital One asks you not to report a lost card by secure message, because a reply can take two working days.

Checks before you report an unknown payment

Capital One suggests a few questions first. Did an extra cardholder make the payment? Does the company trade under another name? Has a free trial turned into a paid subscription? Did you agree to the charge with a retailer, or mistype a payee? If the payment still makes no sense, call. For a payment you did make but have a problem with, Capital One says to try the retailer first, then fill in its online dispute form, save it as a PDF and email it to UKDisputes@capitalone.com; a dispute cannot be raised while the transaction is still pending.

Before you call
  • Lock the card in the app if it is missing or a payment looks wrong.
  • Note the date, amount, currency and merchant name of the payment.
  • If it was a scam, keep the messages, links or receipts involved.
  • Check Capital One's phone hours first: weekday evenings run to 9pm, weekends close at 5pm.

Dialling from outside the UK

Capital One says calls to 0800 are free from a UK landline or personal mobile, and lists +44 115 993 8002 as its ‘Call from abroad’ number under General account query. It says nothing about reaching 0800 952 5267 from a foreign network. Losali is an independent dialler in your web browser: the call runs over the internet and Losali's telecom carrier connects it to the 0800 number, so your foreign network carries only data, with no app or UK SIM involved.

What kind of number is this?

Freephone 0800 / 0808. Free to call from inside the UK. Losali shows the price before the call starts.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is 0800 952 5267 free to call?

Capital One says calls to 0800 are free from a UK landline or personal mobile. It names no rate from abroad, and on a foreign network the call may not connect.

How do I dispute a Capital One payment I did make?

Contact the retailer first. If that does not settle it, fill in Capital One's online dispute form, download it as a PDF and email it to UKDisputes@capitalone.com. Capital One says it will update you by email within 7 working days, and that a dispute cannot be raised while the transaction is still pending.

What should I check before reporting a payment I do not recognise?

Capital One suggests asking whether an extra cardholder made it, whether the company trades under another name, whether a free trial has turned into a subscription, and whether a retailer agreement or a payee mistake explains it. If you still do not recognise it, call.

What kind of number is 0800 952 5267?

A UK 0800 freephone number. Capital One UK gives it for transaction problems: payments you do not recognise, scams, or a merchant you cannot reach. Capital One does not say whether it connects from a foreign network.

Is the Capital One line open 24 hours?

Capital One gives its phone hours as Monday to Friday 7am to 9pm and Saturday and Sunday 8am to 5pm. Out of hours, Capital One says the automated options still work, for example to make a payment.

Can I report a lost Capital One card without calling?

Yes. Capital One says you can report it in the mobile app by tapping My card. It asks you not to use secure messages for this, as a reply can take two working days.

Is Losali part of Capital One?

No. Losali is an independent service that connects a web browser to UK telephone numbers over the internet. It is not a card issuer, has no link with Capital One and no access to your account or card.

Can I call Capital One UK on 0800 952 5267 from abroad with Losali?

Yes. Click the number on this page, sign in, allow the microphone and the call is placed onto the UK network from your browser. The per-minute price is shown before the call starts and a call that does not connect is never charged.
