Everything about calling Pension Tracing Service from abroad
What the Pension Tracing Service does
GOV.UK offers the service to find the contact details you need to search for a lost pension. It covers your own workplace or personal pension scheme, and someone else's scheme if you have their permission. To use it you need the name of an employer or of a pension provider. GOV.UK is clear about the limits: the service will not tell you whether you have a pension, or what its value is. What you get is a way to reach the scheme, which you then use in your own search.
Online, by phone or by post
GOV.UK offers an online service, available in English and in Welsh. GOV.UK lists two other ways to ask: by phone on 0800 731 0175, in the hours above, and by post to The Pension Service, Post Handling Site A, Wolverhampton, WV98 1AF, United Kingdom. Relay UK users dial 18001 then 0800 731 0175, and a British Sign Language video relay service is offered. GOV.UK gives the hours without a time zone.
One number, two services
0800 731 0175 is also the number GOV.UK gives for the Future Pension Centre, which answers questions about your State Pension and gives forecasts, Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm. The Pension Tracing Service window on GOV.UK is shorter, 10am to 3pm on weekdays. If your question is about a lost workplace or personal pension, call within those hours.
Calling 0800 731 0175 from abroad
On its call charges page, GOV.UK lists 0800 numbers as free. From a foreign network, a UK 0800 number may not connect, depending on your operator. For callers outside the UK, GOV.UK prints an ordinary number for the Pension Tracing Service, +44 (0)191 218 7777.
